Yellow

Image
It's an interesting colour challenge this week at  Less is More   - they would like to see YELLOW in our clean and simple projects. Here is my card My 5" x 5" card blank has had a mat of white card stock added which has first been put through my 'Bug in the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I then die cut a fancy square onto which I stamped the fern leaf from Growing Green. The rose was stamped onto a scrap of white card stock, coloured with Promarkers and then cut out and attached with 3D foam pads. I said that this was an interesting colour choice for a challenge because I don't use yellow all that much but more interestingly I had been thinking about yellow roses. I am visiting my mum and dad at the weekend and we will probably take some flowers to my Gran's grave - yellow roses - this seemed the obvious card to make. See you soon - Jacqueline xx

52CCT - Sketch Challenge

Image
Morning all - it's a new round of challenges at  52CCT  and it's Mynnette's month and she starts us off with this lovely sketch - take a look Here is my first card The background paper is some that was given to me by a friend and taken from a huge pad of Christmas scrapbook papers. I teamed it up with some Basic Black and Cherry Cobbler and although I haven't used any for years - a piece of gold mirri. I ran the mirri card through the Cuttlebug in my Swiss Dots embossing folder. My stamped sentiment is from Papermania and placed on some die cut card - I added some black organza ribbon as a finishing touch. Here is my second card This is some more paper that my friend gave me - from the same pad and this time I teamed it up with Poppy Parade. I used some vellum which was again run through the 'Bug this time in a snowflake embossing folder. Don't know where I got my glittered snowflake from - it's just always been there! Here is a clos...

Happy Birthday to CAS-ual Fridays

Image
OK - I'm posting late at night again so this will be a quick post again. I decided at about 9.30 tonight that I just had to make a card and came up with this These orange and red flowers remind me so much of the marigolds my Grandpa used to grow years ago - I used to love the smell of them! But I digress - today  CAS-ual Fridays  are a year old - happy birthday! To celebrate the challenge this week is a Clean and Simple birthday card - hope mine qualifies. The stamp set is SU Field Flowers and they are stamped in Pumpkin Pie, cherry Cobbler and Sage Shadow ink. So no Dr Who marathon this evening, my husband and I (eek I sound like the Queen!) have recently discovered The Big Bang Theory and find it hilarious so we've been watching that all night! Please pop back tomorrow as it's time for the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown again and I will have some Christmas cards to share with you - see you soon - Jacqueline xx

Birthday Boy

Image
It's my husband's birthday tomorrow, poor thing - this is the second year he will be 'Very Old'! - can you tell I tease him a lot about this? The joke's on me though as he doesn't really care how old he is!! I've bought him a book about walks in Herefordshire so I though that I would make him a nature themed card to go with it. I also followed this lovely sketch from  Freshly Made Sketches Here is my card My card stock is Stampin' Up and I have used Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Old Olive and Basic Black. My image - from Lovely as a Tree is stamped in black and coloured with markers. I used my Cuttlebug and various embossing folders to add a bit of texture and and some nesting dies for the mat to stamp my tree on. I would also like to enter this card in to the  Fab 'n' Funky Challenges  as this week they are 'Celebrating Male-ness' bye for now - Jacqueline xx

My stamped images are from my new set - Field Flowers, stamped in Old Olive, Baja Breeze and Not Quite Navy ink. I used my bargain seam binding ribbon again and embellished with some Liquid Pearls. I shall be entering this card into the following challenges Creative Mondays  - Anything Goes Hooked on Craft Challenges  - Flowers Make it Monday  - Anything Goes.
