Phoenix Inspirations

Another balloon card today (I love these stamps) and another challenge this time it's  CASology Isn't it funny how sometimes you get a great idea for a card but the finished article is nothing like what you imagined? That's just what happened with this card I won't bore you with too many details but in my head it should have been a lot brighter and I was going to sponge all my edges - doh! I am however pleased with my embossing and you can actually see it on my photograph! I used some Anna Griffin paper, Up, Up and Away stamp set and Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo and Chocolate Chip inks. The balloon and clouds have been popped up on 3D foam pads. Here are a couple of cards that I made today whilst out playing at Jane's. She makes fabulous vintage cards all the time which you can see  here  and today was one of her classes where I had a go myself. She had loads of papers, images, ribbons and embellishments to choose from and this is what I made I started off by using some cream decorative paper that I distressed and inked with Tim Holtz Distress Inks. The red holly is an Anna Griffin Stamp as is the border at the bottom. A rosette was added with a die cut snowflake. Jane had die cut some lacy borders which went really well with my chosen image. This one started off as navy card which was layered with some red paper. Again this was distressed and inked. The vintage image was distressed also and stamped with a cute little holly stamp and some Brilliance ink. The doily was treated in the same way before layering behind the image and some ribbon added. I made this card a couple of days ago using a sketch from one of the daily challenges on the  Splitcoast Stampers  site. I used one of my favourite stamp sets and some retired DSP - Springtime Vintage. The DSP is matted onto some Kraft card stock which has had the edges sponged with Chocolate Chip ink. The flowers were stamped and then coloured with some Stampin' Write markers and the bird was stamped and cut out before being attached with 3D foam pads. He was coloured using pencil crayons. The green ribbon was some I unearthed from the depths of my ribbon bag - I think it's from an Anna Griffin set I bought some years ago. Now luckily when I extracted my ribbon from the bag it wasn't too crumpled but I have been told that crumpled ribbon can be made smooth and flat again by running it through hair straighteners!! (Don't have then too hot though as it will probably melt!). The little label is a Nestability shape with a sentiment from the set Just Believe. Thanks ...

Yesterday was sketch day over on the Splitcoast Stampers  site and I have been using Vintage Vogue and Greenhouse Garden such a lot lately that I decided to do a butterfly instead. So I was rummaging through my scraps drawer and all in one go these pieces of card all landed on the floor at the same time - how could I not use them they looked so good together don't you think? The orange polka dot is the last piece from an Anna Griffin scrapbooking set - I'm a little sad to see it go. There are a couple of Bazzill Basics scraps and a small piece of Crumb Cake - mmmmmmm cake! All the edges have been sponged with Chocolate Chip ink and the main image is from the Pocket Silhouettes set stamped in Really Rust (retired) and Chocolate Chip. I added a small wooden button with some parcel string to finish off the butterfly. Oh - and I still have Viji's Martha Stewart punches - so I had to use that too!!! Hello again - just finished making this card for the challenge over on Die Cut Dreams  and I thought I would squeeze it in this evening before shutting down. The challenge this week is 'Vellum' As you can see - I have remained true to form and used all Stampin' Up materials. (Oh - except for the spotty paper - that's Anna Griffin). Stamps used - Simply Said and Flight of the Butterfly, card stock - Apricot Appeal, inks - Apricot Appeal and Pumpkin Pie (mmmm pie) and a little bit of Very Vanilla ribbon. The butterflies have been punched out with the Butterfly Punch and I used a piece of sparkly glitter vellum to overlay them. (This is a piece I have been hording for ages). Hello again - I'm back with another card for another '3' challenges. I know I'm doing a lot but I'm away for the weekend again so I thought I would get a good crafty fix in now to keep me going over the weekend! So here is my card: I've used another lovely Pollycraft image - this time one of the Lilybean Fairies and again coloured her in using my Promarkers. Backing papers this time are Anna Griffen and button and ribbons are from my stash. Did sneak in a bit of Stampin' Up too - butterfly punch and inks. I love making books, be it memory books or just plain notebooks - I love to make them and customise them. This is one I made today: She was inspired by I sketch I saw on Tuesday Morning Sketches  and I didn't just want to make a card this time. So I used some cereal boxes - 4 pieces 15 1/2 cm by 22cm and I glued them together. I glued the picture sides together so it wouldn't show through my paper when I came to cover it. I then covered over them with brown wrapping paper - I bought it from my local Post Office - and then I decorated them. I used some Anna Griffin blue polka dot paper and inked it with my Tim Holtz distress ink - Brushed Cordouroy and stamped some swirls using Stampin' Up inks Bordering Blue and Night of Navy. The vintage lady is from the Craft Stamper Magazine  web site - I just ripped the edges and inked them. The flowers are punched from vintage papers using the Stampin' Up 5 petal flower punch and again are distressed and inked. I stuck them on with...

This is another of my most favourite blogs - I LOVE Pollycraft and for my card this week I used an image downloaded from Tales of Pollycraft - it was a freebie a little while ago and you can visit the site here  . I would also recommend paying a visit to the web site where you can see all their lovely stamps and downloads - found here  . O.K - now for the challenge. This week it is a sketch And here is my card: As I said before the image is from Pollycraft - Cody, and the backing papers are from my scraps box. I used an Anna Griffen paper punch to make the tabs and flowers from my stash. To distress the edges of the papers I used Stampin' Up ink -  Rose Red.
