Phoenix Inspirations

This week at  Freshly Made Sketches  there is a lovely sketch to follow So - having the luxury of a whole weekend off work again I set to work and made this card I stamped the stem of my orchid to mirror the curve of the sketch. On one side I stamped one of the images from the Gorgeous Grunge set and then added my flowers. The orchid flowers were stamped in Rich Razzleberry with a little So Saffron while the middles were stamped with Daffodil Delight. Old Olive stems and Crumb Cake grunge and sentiment to finish it off. I've been having internet issues again - might have to stay up all night scheduling my posts for the week - need to make the most of it while it's working!! I've always loved those stamp sets that allow you to create a more dimensional image and my card today uses one such stamp set: Stippled Blossoms from Stampin' Up. It's a two part image starting with a light background onto which darker detail can be added. The same applies to the leaves too. Here is my card I've also added a few Gorgeous Grunge splats and some washi tape to complete this card and my circle is attached with 3D foam pads. I will be entering this card into this week's challenge over on Just Us Girls Well that's it for today, the sun is shining and I have a whole day off work - my craft room is calling so I'm off to play. So I'm having a quick coffee break before starting on the Sunday roast and I've got a card to share with you - take a look I love this stamp - it's huge! Today I have stamped only half and coloured it with markers: Daffodil Delight, Real Red and Pacific Point. I also added a bit of Gorgeous Grunge - it's hiding a smudge I made with my finger!!! I made a card - for three challenges. I have taken so long to photograph and upload said card that I am now only in time for one of those challenges - doh! Here is the card Stamp sets used are: Papillon Potpourri, Gorgeous Grunge and Wetlands for the sentiment. My colours are Baked Brown Sugar, Blushing Bride and Coastal Cabana. Hooray it's the weekend!!! It's also Saturday and that means a 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown  Christmas card. This week the theme is.......... Here is my card I didn't have any actual candle stamps so I improvised with an image from the Gorgeous Grunge set. The fir branches and pine cones were a freebie on a magazine (Creative Stamping Magazine) and the flames were punched from the Bird Builder punch. I love using the Hardwood stamp as a background especially with flowers. Here's two cards I made combining them both I've used various pinks and purples for these cards and also added a splash or two of Crumb Cake with one of the stamps from Gorgeous Grunge. I distressed the edges of the paper a little and sponged the edges with an ink pad - that's about as far as I will go when it comes to distressing - no inky fingers for me if I can help it! I managed to make a few DT cards before I came to mum and dad's last week, mainly because I was commissioned to make some Valentine's cards. I based them around my DT requirements and here's one created for  The Male Room  - the theme being VALENTINE I used World Map, Traveler, Gorgeous Grunge and One in a Million stamp sets and a colour combo of Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso inks. I punched a small heart from Glimmer Paper and coloured it with a Cherry Cobbler Blendie. Dad is not so bad today and has gone out to lunch with mum - leaving me a little time to get this post up - thanks for stopping by xx

It's time for our weekly challenge at  CAS - Colours & Sketches  to commence and this week we have some lovely colours for you to use - take a look Now these colours had me stumped for a while and while I was gazing at my stamp sets looking for inspiration to strike my eyes settled on the Serene Silhouettes and an idea was born - here is my card I love the trees in this set and I thought that the perfect sunset backdrop would be one of my Gorgeous Grunge stamps and the Cherry Cobbler red. The stamp was stamped closer together at the top of the card to create a darker more concentrated colour. The title says it all really! This is a favourite technique of mine as it's so easy but gives a great effect.
